A Growing Crisis: Thousands in South Florida Need Shelter and Support

As of 2024, Florida has an estimated 31,462 individuals experiencing homelessness on any given night. hese, approximately 16,979 are unsheltered, meaning they live in places not meant for human habitation, such as streets or abandoned buildings. In South Florida, the situation is particularly pressing. Miami-Dade County alone reported 4,235 individuals experiencing homelessness, the highest in the state.

Additionally, there has been a notable increase in homelessness among seniors in South Florida, with many struggling to make ends meet.

These statistics underscore our community's critical need for housing and support services.
